Click a person, then Sway to call them over and make a deal (the GM rolls d20). Everyone has their own needs, habits and grudges: look after your people. Help anyone passed out on the sidewalk. Click the Lantern House for food, a washroom and friends. Cross King Edward on the green: drivers don’t always stop. Left-click a thief who robbed someone (or you) to chase them down, tackle them and get everything back. Once a week Benny (the big pizza hat) brings free pizza: double-click him to grab a slice. It fully restores your health, feeds the whole block and draws a crowd that’s easy to Sway. Your cracked old phone has no service: buy a $25 plan (or a $100 phone) at Lowertown Mobile on Rideau West, then text contacts to trade or sell smokes. Rocco sells packs for $2.50 and cartons (20 packs) for $25 next door; smokers pay $5 a pack, $30 a carton or 50¢ a single. Trucks come down King Edward and turn right onto Rideau. When anything free turns up (the coat van, pizza night), a green alert appears at the top: one click or tap sends you straight there to pick it up. If someone robs or shoves you, you run after them automatically and a dice roll decides the fight: the loser may be injured (you heal at the Bytown General ER), and the police show up. King Edward has a median island: people wait on it when traffic is coming, and sprint when a car bears down on them. You start beside the Common Table Kitchen: free meals and a washroom, but there are line-ups, and a meal means you’ll need the washroom soon. Community respect grows when you hang out and help; at 40 it gives you advantage when trading and persuading. Click someone in a wheelchair to offer a turbo push to wherever they’re going: respect, influence and street cred. Watch out for rowdy partiers and people who are very high: shouting matches can turn into fights. Click a fight to break it up (or stay out of it); the police come either way. Watch for the Warm Hands van: it pulls over and hands out jackets and boots, more often in bad weather. To Sway someone, right-click them, double-click them, or press and hold on them (on iPhone or Android: double-tap or press and hold). To send one of your people to help someone in need, pick it from their menu, or right-click someone passed out or sleeping rough. Hang out with groups at the benches, the park or the bus shelter. Left-click anyone to walk up and ask if they want to trade or need help. Your phone runs the Sway and lets you text contacts to trade: charge it at the Lantern House.
Night falls on the Kingsgate Block. You’ve got a cracked phone, sixty bucks and a signal that can sway people. Look after your people, help the ones who need it, and decide what kind of name you make for yourself.
